Another type of map that some people may see is the map that shows the annual rainfall for the USA.  This map charts the average rainfall of the whole U.S. and color codes it on a map.  They don't normally show each individual state on these maps but if you know your geography at all it would be pretty easy for you to figure out.

Other maps show the population density of the United States, it shows the areas that have the largest density down to the lowest.  It is shown as colors the darker the color the more people that live there.  The map below this one shows the density per square mile of the United States.

This map shows that there are considerably more people in the Eastern U.S. then the Western.  This might be due to the weather, or something else that makes the Eastern U.S. more of a popular area.

Here is another type of use for a map of the United States.  This map shows the density of farms within the U.S.  As you can see here this map that shows the farms looks similar to the density map as well.  This may be another reason why the East Coast is more popular then the West Coast.
