Map of USA 50 states
Maps have been around for a very long time, and depending on what kind of map you are looking at will tell you different things about the United States. There are many different types of maps of the United States, and each one will tell you a different aspect of the United States. Most of them have the states, but they also have the mountain ranges mapped out showing you what mountain range is in what state. There are other maps of the U.S. that have the states mapped out to what presidential party their majority is. So depending on what you are looking for in the terms of mapping the United States you will be able to find it. We'll go over the different types of maps that you can find, and how to look at them.
Traditional maps will have all 50 states, generally they are all colored in generic colors so that the states won't be confused. They have all the 50 states named, and generally have boxes down at the bottom left hand corners of the map showing Hawaii, and Alaska since they are not connected to the continent. They will also have the distance calculator on the bottom of the map and in each box containing Hawaii, and Alaska. These give a general distance on how big the state is. Normally it goes by inches, so 1 inch would equal so many miles on the main map, but the boxes with Hawaii and Alaska will have different scale since they aren't normally proportioned to the other states.

Other maps of the country will list the states by which they actually became states. These maps will have different colors for all the states that entered statehood. Instead of having the names of the states though on the map it will have the year that it was inducted into the statehood. These maps give a precise time line on how the United States came into existence, beginning in 1787 and ending in 1959. These maps are generally used for history, since there are no names to the states you can also use them for teaching purposes as well.

Another type of map that you will find of the United States will be one that shows all the states, but it divided up into different regions of the United States. These regions are the western region, the mid-west, the south, and the northeast region. There are other maps that are divided up into the 9 different regions, and these regions are split up by the census bureau. These 9 different regions are the New England region, Mid-Atlantic, East North Central, West North Central, South Atlantic, East South Central, West South Central, Mountain, and Pacific. These are all done to make it easier for the census bureau to conduct it's census.

I think it is quite ridiculous that states in the "mid west" section of the U.S are North East of the southern states. This makes absolutely no sense, and needs to be changed. How can there be no North when there is South?
